Prepared Childbirth Education: childbirth preparation that offers "freedom of choice based on knowledge of alternatives." These classes are designed to fit your needs and to make your birthing experience more enjoyable. Classes include: anatomy review, discomforts of pregnancy, breathing techniques for labor, how labor starts and what happens along the way, non-medicated pain relief other than breathing, medication available, role of the birth partner and reasons for a cesarean birth. Prenatal Breastfeeding Instruction: a one day class offered each month. The class is designed to help prepare the expectant mother for successful breastfeeding. The class is taught by a registered nurse and certified lactation consultant. Sign up by calling the instructor, Barbara Latterner, directly at 845-279-7605.
New Mothers’ Support Group: a once a week, Thursday meeting led by Barbara Latterner, RN, and certified lactation consultant. Great way to meet other new moms, get breastfeeding advice, socialize and discuss physical and emotional challenges facing the family. Sign up directly with Barbara at 845-279-7605.
Early Home Care: a free, one evening class for those families planning to birth in the center. The class is taught by one of the midwives and reviews topics essential to the family having the early discharge that is standard from the center. The class is offered every 2-3 months.
